Parent and Family Weekly Update 

April 15-19 2024

Hello all Brent Kennedy parents, families and caregivers,

I hope that you all enjoyed a weekend in the beautiful sun! 

The weeks are going by quickly, as we enter in these final few months of the 2023-2024 school year. The daffodils are in full bloom and the students have been enjoying some warmer weather this past week out on the playground, with only a few days of April showers so far. We had a school wide celebration assembly for all students and staff last Friday morning. This was a fantastic way to bring the whole student body together to celebrate the March and April birthdays as well as the accomplishments of various classrooms and clubs throughout the school. These include the Grade 5/6 basketball team, the upcoming talent show participants and the kindergarten class for learning their first reading words! 

Big thank you to all students for their hard work and effort at school to be kind, encouraging of others, and for working hard in their learning. 

Announcements for parents and students are below, as well as information around upcoming dates. 

Announcements for Parents 

• Informal Reporting.
  • Each classroom teacher will conduct an informal reporting at the end of April.
  • Each classroom teacher will communicate with families directly about the structure of their meetings and how to sign up (if applicable).
  • Some teachers have decided to conduct their informal reporting on the early dismissal days, others are planning for an alternate day at the end of the month.
• After School Supervision à We provide supervision for bus students at the front entrance of the school under the covered area. Students who are not waiting for the bus or a ride home are to please leave school property when the bell rings. Our supervision is only for the entrance bussing area.
• Please be sure to call or email the school office to report an absence or late arrival of a student.
• Bussing registration for next year is OPEN. Please register before June 15^th. 

Announcements for Students 

• Reminder to keep rocks and pinecones etc. on the ground – they are not to be thrown please. This is to keep all the children safe. 
• The forest area is off limits to students before and after school. 
• Students who take the bus after school are to please remain in the front of the school to wait for their bus. Students who remain after departure of the Lizard and Panda busses will be taken to the playground or gym to wait for the late busses.

April 15: BKE PAC Meeting @ 5:30 in the library 

April 18: BKE vs TMS Basketball Game (Grade 5/6) @ 1:00

April 22 : District ProD Day (school not in session for students) 

April 24 and 25 : Early Dismissal Days (1 hour early)- Busses also arrive 1 hour early. 

April 30: BKE vs WES Basketball Game@ 11:00 (at WES)

End of April : Informal Reporting – see note above regarding structure. 

May 3: BKE vs WES Basketball Game @ 11:20

May 16: Talent Show @ 1:00 in the gym
