School Spirit T-Shirts Now Available!

The BKES PAC is excited to offer families a chance to purchase a school spirit t-shirt.

These are the same t-shirts PAC provided to all students & staff in June, 2023. Look for the yellow order form that is came home with your child on January 29. The choices are light blue, medium blue and dark blue.

If you didn't get an order form and want one, contact the school.

Additional School Leadership Changes for Coming Year

The following school principal and vice-principal transfers and appointments for the 2023-2024 school year will come into effect on August 1, 2023:  

Principal Transfers

Principal Dawn Snell will transfer from Salmo Elementary to South Nelson Elementary. 

Principal Appointments

Vice-Principal Mark Bonikowsky will move from Trafalgar Middle School to become principal of Redfish Elementary School. 

Vice-Principal Jennifer Adams will move from Mount Sentinel Secondary School to become principal of Canyon-Lister Elementary School.

SD8 School Leadership Changes for Upcoming School Year

School District No. 8 (Kootenay Lake) announced today that the following school principal and vice-principal transfers, appointments and retirements will come into effect August 1, 2023:

District-Wide

Principal Ken Wiens is leaving Erickson Elementary to take on the role of district principal for SD8’s online learning programs including Elev8 DESK – a Provincial Online Learning School (POLS) - and the hybrid online/in-person program, Homelinks. Principal Wiens will take over from District Principal Rob Simpson who is retiring in 2023.

Littlest Christmas Tree a Big Success!

Brent Kennedy Elementary's production of the Littlest Christmas Tree was a huge success! 

The gym was full at 1:30 p.m. on both December 14 and 15 and it was standing room only at concert time.

Early Learning Profile

Brent Kennedy Elementary primary teachers have been busy this year and last working through the Early Learning Profile assessment that is being used district-wide. This assessment provides a concise snapshot of students' strengths and stretches which then inform teaching practices and interventions, if needed.

Spring Musical Performance, March 11

Brent Kennedy enjoyed a wonderful musical performance today by “The Devils You Don’t” including BKE alumni, Clint Swanson. A special thank you to the Osprey Foundation & Selkirk Pro Musica for making this possible and helping School District #8, Kootenay Lake celebrate and promote the importance of music in our schools.
