Good Afternoon Brent Kennedy Families

As we leave winter behind, students are beginning to perk up with the days filled with sunshine. It has helped lighten the mood for the entire school community.  However, as the weather changes, the school property can get pretty mucky. Please ensure your child has a change of clothes, particularly a pair of inside shoes that they are not wearing outside.

As part of our school goal of belonging, the PAC is purchasing t-shirts for all students and staff with the Brent Kennedy logo on the front.  The children are being sized today. There are three colours from which they will choose:  light blue, royal blue and greyish blue.  This is such an exciting initiative and we are grateful for the PAC for all they do.  But that’s not all, as our school focuses on the Seven Sacred Teachings, Lana Klein’s dad will be carving out the wooden animals that we are going to paint and hang along the fence with the stream of dreams. This project will begin in the fall.  We will also be having a school movie night on May 12 in our gym; more details to come.  Lastly, the PAC has purchased a lending library where students will be able to take and/or donate used books. Yesterday was the deadline for submitting your spring flower orders.  If you have any questions, please contact the PAC directly.

A couple of friendly reminders…if you plan on sending your child on the bus next year, please ensure you connect with the Operations Department and fill out a bus registration form.  Students need to be registered every year, even if they have been riders this year.

Parent Volunteering:  Please read over the following policy:  https://bkes.sd8.bc.ca/sites/default/files/documents/2022-09/AP%20300.3%20Volunteers_2.pdf

A parent volunteer orientation night will take place in the fall.

Please ensure you are not dropping off your child before 7:55 a.m. in the morning as there are no supervisors out on duty and this is a huge safety concern. I understand that parents need to get to work.  If you are so inclined, please call the daycare next door to see if they space available to watch your child in the morning.

Hot lunch will be served every second Thursday.  This is a change from the last cycle.  Please make sure you mark this on your calendars so that you send your child to school with a lunch on the Thursdays where it is not provided.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!  Don’t forget that Monday is a Pro-D day.  No school for students.

Warmly,

Mrs. Kooznetsoff

Principal, Brent Kennedy
