Good Morning BK Families!

Things are getting very busy around the school!  It’s a time when students start to get excited about the holidays and with that comes a ramping up of behavior.  We remind students of expected behaviour regularly and hope that they can finish off the next few weeks on a positive note.  Respect must be shown at all times to staff and students.  Some students are struggling to make good choices.  Please check-in with your child and make sure they understand what expected behaviours look like at school.

Good Afternoon BK Families!

This week we are expecting our Art Cards for Kids to arrive; this should allow for plenty of time to get them to your friends and family before Christmas.  Thank you to Michelle Harris for her help with this.

Thank you to those of you who attending last week's PAC meeting, including our special guests.  A big thank you to our new executive for running a smooth and relaxing meeting.  There are lots of great ideas in the works.

An online assembly was held last week to recognize student birthdays for September, October and November.

Lest We Forget.....

This is the message that we send to all of those who fought for our freedom.  A special thanks goes out to Mrs. Johnson's class for leading the Remembrance Day assembly yesterday.  Although it is not a "celebration", it is a time for our students to come together to reflect on the historical significance in a way they can understand.

Indigenous Veterans Day - November 8

November 8th is a day marked to honour the contributions of Indigenous Peoples to the Canadian Military.

"Did you know that First Nations served in the Canadian Military at a higher rate than any other group in this great nation? More than 4,000 Indigenous people served Canada in the First World War. In fact, First Nations, Inuit and Métis people served Canada in all the great conflicts and peace support missions of the 20th century." Good Morning Brent Kennedy Families!

Lots of fabulous things have been happening around our school!  Special thanks go out to our PAC for their organization of the Art Cards for Kids fundraiser.  These cards will be back well in time to be sent out for Christmas!

Today you should have received an email regarding the expectations around Halloween.  If you are unsure about your child's costume, just give me a call at the school and we can chat.

From the Principal Sept 18

Happy Sunday everyone!

The weather sure is starting to change; we are seeing more warm and fuzzy coats in the morning. Make sure you help your child dress for the weather, although predicting that is challenging in September!

It's great to see the Multi-Age program has already gone on a field trip to Kokanee Creek Park.  I know other fieldtrips are in the works; this year there will be extra paperwork to fill out so please be prepared for that; it is an initiative that is being done across the district,
