Good Morning Brent Kennedy Families!

Wishing you all a Happy New Year from our staff to you and your family!  It’s great to see that we finally have some snow for the kids to play in.  It has been challenging as our field is currently off limits due to the septic work that is being done.  We expect this to continue over the next few weeks, weather dependent of course!  It’s certainly a big job and I know the team is working hard to get it done as soon as possible.

As the weather is changing, with more snow expected and much colder temperatures, please ensure that your child is dressed appropriately when they come to school.  Students are not to come into the school before the bell.  If the cold temperatures become extreme, we will look at providing activities for students inside before the bell.  Thank you for your cooperation with this.

This week, our primary classes start their winter activities. Tomorrow, the Multi-Age class will be going skating and on Friday, Ms. Podovelnikoff and Ms. Christie’s class will be going.  Please ensure that you have all of your money and permission forms in so your child may participate.  There is no charge for skating but there is a $25 fee for skiing.  If you are experiencing hardship, please reach out to me directly.

This week, our students leadership group will be meeting to discuss this month’s school spirit day as well as the topic of self-esteem and self-confidence.  So far, the students have done an outstanding job of taking on leadership roles within the school.  We have a solid group of at least 20 students who are keen and eager to learn new skills.

Also happening this week, we are receiving two practicum EAs from Selkirk College who will be starting at one day per week.  We are pleased to have some new visitors in our school who will be helping to support students.

Just a reminder that a criminal record check AND volunteer package must be completed in order for adults to volunteer in our building.  The code for the criminal record check is as follows:

Online Link: https://justice.gov.bc.ca/criminalrecordchec

Access Code: 6TZPXAUU2S

If you have any questions about this process, please contact the school directly at 250-359-7292.

Wishing you all a wonderful week!  Bundle up and stay warm!

Warm regards,

Jenn Kooznetsoff, Principal
