Principal's Blog for March 10

Good Afternoon Brent Kennedy Families,

The school has been buzzing with lots of activity over the past couple of weeks.  Mr. McRann has got the Archery program set up and will be working in the gym to help develop those skills.  This is in addition to the recess and lunch soccer being supervised by Mrs. McRann and the Brent Kennedy Hockey League being supervised by me. Students have many options to keep themselves busy over the breaks.

A special thanks goes out to the PAC for their donation of outdoor bins and winter equipment for the students to use during recess and lunch outside.  Special thanks also goes out to all students who help set up the cones in the parking lot in the morning, and take them down at the end of the day, as well as students who offer to help salt and sand our walkways to keep everyone safe.

We are entering our final week of school before two weeks of Spring Break.  Please ensure that your child has cleaned out their desk to make sure there are no food items, and to take any clothing items home that need to be washed.

We have now wrapped up our winter activities and will begin swimming lessons right after the break.  Please ensure you have read the letter that was emailed out earlier this week.  All swimming fees need to be paid by this Wednesday, March 15.  This allows payment to the complex to ensure they have proper staffing.  Unlike previous years, students will be receiving only 4 lessons. This is due to changes in operating hours at the complex, availability of the pool, as well as staffing.  I am sure the students will have a great time. Special thanks to the PAC for paying $5 per student to help cover costs.  Swimming lessons now cost $27.75 and can be paid via cheque, cash, debit or online.  If you have any questions, please contact the office.  If you are experiencing hardship, please reach out to me directly. This coming Friday, March 17, we will be having a St. Patrick’s Day dance. This is exciting because we are not usually in school on this day as it normally falls during Spring Break. The Valentine’s Dance was such a success we knew we wanted to have another one!

We also have a contest running for students designing the new logo for t-shirts that are being purchased by the PAC for all students.  The entries are amazing!

If you have the chance, please come and look through the Lost and Found before the break. There are many items still to be claimed.  Also, library books need to be returned by the break.

Warm regards,

Mrs. Kooznetsoff

Principal
