Good Afternoon BK Families!
Lots of exciting things have been happening at our school lately! Here are a few highlights:
- The Crescent Valley Fire Department recently visited the school and each class had the change to tour the firetrucks and shoot water from the hose. Thanks to Christena Lewis and and her team for sharing their knowledge with the kids. It was a highlight for sure!
- This past week week we celebrated Halloween and began with our tour of the school and parade into the gym. It was so nice to be able to do this after two years of Covid. There was not one student who wasn't in costume. It was very impressive!
- Ms. Solomon's and Ms. Radridge's classes recently went on a fieldtrip to Nelson to see the Mineral and Gem Show; what an exciting opportunity for that buddy group!
- Mrs. Koorbatoff's and Ms. Long's class are piloting a composting program in their classroom. The device is called a food cycler and it dehydrates the food, and then turns it into dust. That dust is then used in the flower and vegetable gardens around the school, What an innovative idea!
- The facilitation of Grade 4 FSAs is almost complete and should be wrapped up this week.
- School fundraising is well underway! We have our Art Cards for Kids, Purdy's and Poinsettia fundraisers out in the community. Flyers were sent home with all students. Please consider contributing as these fundraisers directly impact the school and our ability to purchase unique items!
- The next PAC meeting is November 14.
- Lastly, we have now entered flu season. If you child is feeling sick, please keep them home from school so we can avoid the spread of germs. Wash your hands lots and remember to cough or sneeze into your arm.
- Today is the last day to order student photos. This can be done online.
Again, please check the lost and found which is just inside the school entrance. In addition, ensure your child is dressed for the weather. They do go outside at recess and lunch when it is moderately raining.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend. Don't forget to turn your clocks back this weekend!
Warm regards,
Mrs. Kooznetsoff
