Good Afternoon Brent Kennedy Families!

November is Metis Awareness Month!

As part of our assembly honoring Truth and Reconciliation, our students will be gathering and painting rocks orange which we will then use to wrap around the work we did with Christopher Yates in September.  Students were unable to complete this activity in September because of the issues with the gas line and all of the digging which closed off the field and the forest.

The PAC meeting has been moved to November 21 at 5:30 in our school library.  PAC fundraisers are also going on in the background so show your support of our school by purchasing poinsettias or Purdy’s chocolates or both!  Either would make a great gift and helps provide our school with different things that we need.

This Friday, we will be hosting our Remembrance Day Assembly at 11:00 a.m.  We continue to finalize the details for this but we hope to have as much student involvement as possible. The stat holiday will take place on Monday, November 13.

Our first school-wide activity was a huge success.  Our student leadership team (34 students) did a great job with their multi-aged groups to complete their team poster and get to know each other.  Many students are now making meaningful connections with their groups outside on the playground at recess and lunch.  The older students are often seen helping the younger students and this is one of the outcomes I had hoped for.  The student leadership team meets every Wednesday at lunch.

This week, we will be wrapping up FSAs for our grade 4 students.  However, some students have been away so will need to catch up over the next week or so.

Today we launched our morning breakfast program.  Meals were served to several students and although there were some hiccups, we are confident that this program will help fill a void for many families.  Special thanks to all of our staff and parent volunteers who are making this possible!

The online link for criminal record checks is now available and has been sent out previously.  If you want to volunteer in the school you must completed a record check plus the district’s volunteer information package and application.

Wishing you all the best this week!  Stay dry!
