Good Morning Brent Kennedy Families!

I would like to start by giving a special thanks to Mr. McRann and his class for organizing the Terry Fox Run this past week.  Thank you to the families for your donations, and thank you to the PAC for the juiceboxes.  Once we have tallied the donations, I will provide you with an update.

This Friday, we will be honouring and acknowledging “Every Child Matters” at our Truth and Reconciliation assembly and activity. Students and staff will be led by Mr. Christopher Yates through a gathering of rocks within our school playground.  Later next week, we will be painting those rocks orange and writing words as a symbol of the lives lost the times of residential schools.  Special thanks to our Aboriginal Success Teacher, Zoe Oppenheim for organizing this activity.

The stat holiday will be on Monday, October 2, 2023.

This year, I will be starting a Student Leadership Team for Grade 5/6 students.  I will work to build capacity in our older students whereby they will be in charge of organizing activities, leading assemblies, as well as planning other school-wide events.  We will meet weekly in the library during these sessions.  Stay tuned for more information!

Again, a few reminders:

  • Please remember to pay student fees of $30 per child as they are now outstanding.  Those fees cover the costs of supplies that have already been purchased
  • Return all forms signed and corrected with current information
  • As we enter the cold and flu season, please do not send your children to school if they are sick.  If your child becomes sick at school, they will be placed in the sick room until you able to come pick them up. Please ensure your contact, and emergency contact info, is up to date.
  • As the weather is cooler in the mornings, please have your child dress in layers, as well as have a spare change of clothes they can hang on their hook

Regarding field trips, permission forms must be submitted to the teacher in advance, by the date requested.  If permission forms are not submitted in time, your child will not be able to attend the field trip.  If you have any questions, please speak to your child’s teacher.

If you have any general questions or inquiries, please feel free to contact the office at 250-359-7292.

Warm regards,

Mrs. Kooznetsoff
