Principal's Blog September 26

Good Afternoon Brent Kennedy Families,

As you may know, I am currently on medical leave due to a surgery on my wrist earlier this month.  Until my return on October 11, Mr. Rod Giles will be filling my position as Acting Principal.  Should you have any questions or concerns, you may email him at rodgiles7@gmail.com or contact the office at 250-352-7292.

This week we are acknowleding and paying our respects to the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation on Friday, September 30.  This is a non-instructional (stat holiday) for both staff and students.  Teachers, along with our Aboriginal Success Teacher, Ms. Jenna Hopper, will be planning activities for Orange Shirt Day on Thursday, September 29.  Watch for information coming home from your child's teacher.

Next week, our school will be celebrating Terry Fox and his legacy by doing our own version of the Terry Fox Run.  Thank you to Mr. McRann for organizing this event and for the juiceboxes that are being donated by the PAC.  Should you wish to donate to this legacy, you may send a donation with your child or you may drop it off directly at the office.  Thank you in advance for this worthy cause to find a cure for cancer.

Just a reminder to send in your school fees ($30 per child) as well as the verification forms that were sent home last week.  It is crucial that we have the most up to date information on how to contact you.

As a fundraiser this year, we will once again be doing Art Cards for Kids.  Teachers have received their packages and students are busy creating their art card designs.  We hope to have these ordered early so they will be here in plenty of time for Christmas mailouts.

Our Kindergarteners have now started school fulll time!  It's so exciting to see the learning that is taking place in those classrooms as well as in the rest of our school.  Many thanks to our teachers for their hard work in creating a smooth transition for our students this fall.

As the weather is beginning to change, please ensure your child is dressed appropriately.  This can be challenging as it's colder in the mornings and warmer in the afternoons.

Wishing you all a wonderful week of happiness and good cheer!

Warmly,

Jenn Kooznetsoff, Principal
