Parent and Family Weekly Update 

April 21-25 2025

Coming up next week are the early dismissal days and informal reporting sessions. 

School will be dismissed at 1:35 on both days (April 23 and 24) for informal classroom reporting. Busses will run one hour early on both days. Teachers will reach out to families directly to schedule appointments and/or send information about how they will be structuring their informal reporting on April 23 and 24. 

We had so many wonderful shouts outs to share at our April Celebration Assembly this week, not to mention a celebration of all the April birthdays! Some of the celebration shout outs included acts of kindness, helping and being a good friend. 

Please note, there is no school on Good Friday or Easter Monday. Wishing all our families a joy filled Easter weekend!

There is a “Donate” button if you choose to contribute to a clothing item for a student who may otherwise not receive one. 

• Parking : When you pick up your child from school, please be sure to park safely in a designated parking spot either at the front or the side of the school in the side parking lot. Please do not block the entry ways into the parking lot or leave your vehicle idle while your child runs through the parking lot/driveway area. This is to ensure the safety of both vehicles and the children who are running out into the parking areas for pickup. Thank you so much!!

• Beading club every Wednesday at lunch recess with Ms. Camryn in the portable for intermediate students. 

• Basketball Tuesday – Thursday long recess (Intermediate)

• Friday soccer long recess (Primary)

• Remember to get your bus pass before the end of the day! 

Still Out There: 

• Please contact Ms. Klassen at danielle.klassen@sd8.bc.ca OR contact the school office if you require financial assistance to cover the cost of upcoming field trips or other school related items (ie. new backpack, food, clothing, etc.) We more than happy to support in this way, so to ensure that students have what they need at school to participate fully and have the best experience possible.

• Visitor Sign In Sheet: There is a visitor sign in sheet at the main office. Please be sure to use the sign in sheet to check in and check out when visiting the school and indicate the purpose of your visit. This is to ensure that we know who is in the school at all times, in case of emergency or evacuation. Thank you!!

  • AP 2303 : Volunteers
  • If you are attending class trips or are a parent volunteer in another capacity within the school, please complete the requirements found on the website and turn forms into the school office. Thank you! (Forms must be completed in full, to have the application accepted).
  • All Parent Volunteer Packages and Criminal Record Checks (CRC) must be completed ANNUALLY.
  • If you volunteer at two schools, only one Application and CRC needs to be completed for both.
• When you contact the School office via phone or email, or send a note with your child, please be as detailed as possible and include:
  
  • Students First and Last name
  • Homeroom teacher
  • Name of bus route (if applicable)
  • Any other details pertaining to your question or request. THANK YOU!
  • If you have arranged an alternate pickup arrangement for the day, please let your child’s teacher know.
• Please remind your child to keep their cell phone or other device either at home or zipped up in their backpack for the duration of the school day. Please see the bottom of page 2/ top of page 3 of the Brent Kennedy Elementary School Code of Conduct for more information on cell phones at school.
