Parent and Family Weekly Update

December 2 - 6 2024

With only three weeks left until Christmas break, we are working hard to ensure that students remain grounded and calm in their learning at school both in the classroom and in the play spaces outside. Thank you to families for helping reiterate this message at home, ensuring that students remember to keep their hands to themselves, are using kind and appropriate language and are being respectful and helpful to those around them at school.

I will be in touch with families individually if I need a little extra support in these areas as we head into the busy holiday season! I value a team approach to education, which involves families communicating with children at home to further extend the supports and learning provided at school. As always, please reach out to us if anything comes up at home that we at school should be aware of so that we can work together on any issues.

Thanks to parents for your diligence and time to report student absences! This is very helpful for our tracking and record keeping. Ms. Klassen will reach out to any families who's child is on the consecutive absence list, for a check in.

Announcements for Parents

  • Students often need a change of clothes after recess if it is wet outside. If your child is in the primary grades especially, consider slipping an extra pair of pants into their backpack.
  • If at all possible, please pick up your child at end of day dismissal, unless an arrangement has previously been made. Thank you from teachers!
  • Please note the parent volunteer information listed below. All parents who volunteer in the school or classroom are required to please complete the application process annually. Completed applications and Criminal Record Checks (CRC) are kept in the office. Teachers are notified when a parent in their class completes the required application and CRC for volunteering. Please let us know if you have any questions or need assistance with this process.

    • All Parent Volunteer Packages and Criminal Record Checks (CRC) must be completed ANNUALLY.
    • If you volunteer at two schools, only one Application and CRC needs to be completed for both.
  • Please keep up the great work with parent communication to the school regarding absences and after school plans. Thank you!
  • Please remind your child to please get their bus note before 2:00 pm, if they require one.
