September October 6 - 10 2025

 

We are well into the swing of October here at Brent Kennedy, and the energy of the season is alive in our school! With autumn upon us, we’re looking forward to upcoming events that bring our community together, including our annual Fall Book Fair and in-person Informal Learning Updates. Please see the announcements below for more details and upcoming dates including school photos next week.

 

This past week, we were pleased to welcome Superintendent Smillie for a school visit. She had the opportunity to see our wonderful school in action and was given a full tour by our grade 5/6 leadership students, who did a fantastic job showcasing the spirit of Brent Kennedy. Moments like these remind us how much we have to be both proud of and grateful for in our school community.

 

A big thank-you to our parents and families for your continued support as we work together to create a caring, respectful, and engaging learning environment for all of our students.

 

Announcements for Parents:

 

  • Book Fair – Paper newsletter sent home Friday. 

Schedule : October 16th and 17th 

Thursday Oct 16- 8:00-8:30 am 

                  and 1:35pm- 3:30 pm ( Early Dismissal ) 

Friday Oct 17th - 8:00-8:30 am 
Note : Students will be able to visit the Book Fair during their class Library times on Thursday and Friday. 

Please reach out to Crystal Robinson, teacher librarian, if you would like to volunteer at the book fair Crystal.robinson@sd8.bc.ca 

 

There is an option at check out to add a donation to purchase clothing for a student who may not be able to do so. Online ordering is open until October 10. 

All orders will be delivered to the school and distributed to students. Thanks for supporting Brent Kennedy! 

 

 

  • Contacting the office : Please be as detailed as possible with notes, emails and office phone calls and include:
    • Students First and Last name
    • Homeroom teacher
    • Name of bus route (if applicable)
    • Any other details pertaining to your question or request. THANK YOU!

    • If you have arranged an alternate pickup arrangement for the day, please let your child’s teacher know. 

       

  • Visitor Sign In Sheet: There is a visitor sign in sheet at the main office. Please be sure to use the sign in sheet to check in and check out when visiting the school and indicate the purpose of your visit. This is to ensure that we know who is in the school at all times, in case of emergency or evacuation. Thank you.

Announcements for Students:

 

  • Grade 5/6 Volleyball starts next week with practice on Tuesday and Thursday at lunch recess. All grade 5/6 students are welcome to join!

 

  • Grade 2,3,4 Soccer on Friday’s

  • Reaching the Principal: For urgent or time sensitive matters, please call the school office to arrange a phone call or appointment. Due to the high volume of emails received each day, email is welcome for non-urgent matters, and I will aim to reply within 3 business days.

 

  • Parent Volunteer Information : Parent Volunteer Information Page
    • AP 2303 : Volunteers
    • If you are attending class trips or are a parent volunteer in another capacity within the school, please complete the requirements found on the website and turn forms into the school office. Thank you! (Forms must be completed in full, to have the application accepted).
    • All Parent Volunteer Packages and Criminal Record Checks (CRC) must be completed ANNUALLY.

    • If you volunteer at two schools, only one Application and CRC needs to be completed for both.
