Parent and Family Weekly Update 

September 9-13 2024

We have had a fantastic start to the school year! It has been a joy to see all of our students in their classrooms once again, ready to learn and ready to make new friendships or rekindle old ones. 

Thank you to the teachers, support staff, parents and families for their support of the Brent Kennedy Elementary School students! We appreciate and value a team effort when it comes to education. Please continue to communicate with the school and with your child’s teacher as needed, to help facilitate growth for our learners. 

Below you will find Announcement for both parents and students. Please be sure to read these through so to not miss any important information from us to you! 

Announcements for Parents

• Supervision times :         7:55 am – 8:35 am 

                                              2:35 pm – 2:50 pm 

• Reminder to parents to please pack a healthy lunch and snack for your child as well as a water bottle. 
• Student fees can be paid online at: https://bkes.sd8.bc.ca/pay or in person at the office. Online is preferred. Fee is $40 per student. 
• Student forms went home with students last week and are due back to their teacher by: September 19 2024.
• Student Accident Optional Insurance coverage 
  
  • Did you know . . .As a parent or guardian, you are responsible for expenses for student injuries that happen on school grounds or during school activities?

• When you contact the School office via phone or email, or send a note with your child, please be as detailed as possible and include: 
  
  • Students First and Last name
  • Homeroom teacher
  • Name of bus route (if applicable) 
  • Another other details pertaining to your question or request. THANK YOU!
• Please remind your child to keep their cell phone or other device either at home or zipped up in their backpack for the duration of the school day. Please see the bottom of page 2/ top of page 3 of the Brent Kennedy Elementary School Code of Conduct  for more information on cell phones at school. 

Announcements for Students

• Students are to remain outside at the beginning of the day until the bell rings. 
• Line up at your classroom door and your teacher will bring you inside the school, to change shoes, hang backpack etc. 
• Please get a GOLDEN TICKET from your teacher if you need to visit the office area for any reason. Students without Golden Ticket will be sent back to class. 
• Remember to get your bus pass before the end of the day! 
• ASSAI Students – Please meet in Ms. Long’s classroom at 2:35 dismissal.

• As a student of Brent Kennedy Elementary School, always remember to be kind, helpful and respectful to others, to your school environment and to yourself!
