Principal's Welcome September 1

Happy last week of summer holidays to you all, Brent Kennedy Community!

I can't believe that we are already back to school!  I hope you enjoyed this beautiful Kootenay summer and/or any other places you travelled to.

School startup is tricky business with many details, questions, and changing enrollments so we appreciate your patience as we work through everything!

As approved by our SD8 Board of Education, we will continue to purchase all school supplies this year and charge families $30 per student, payable online at https://bkes.sd8.bc.ca/pay or in person at the office.  Thank you to our generous PAC who will be covering the extra $10.

On the first day of school, students will go to their new classes.  An email will be going home to families this weekend with that information.  Students are to remain outside and line up at their outside as they did last year.  Preliminary class lists continue to be tweaked as we have new and/or transferring students. Please note that there is always a possibility that these might change after the first week once we see for sure who is arriving.

First Day of School:  Tuesday, September 6, 2022.  School will start at the usual time of 8:40 a.m. and will go until 11:35 a.m. As before, please wait for your child outside and have a designated spot where they can meet you.  Buses will also be running as per usual.  New bus students can come to the office for a temporary pass.

Kindergarten family conferences individiually with Teachers.  Teachers have made contacg and will continue to contact families this week to set up conference times.

We welcome Ms. Liane Studer as our new administrative assistant as well and Ms. Heather Bury who will be teaching prep from Monday to Friday.  Ms. Crystal Robinson also returns to BK as Prep/Teacher Librarian and Grade 5/6 (on Fridays for Mr. McRann).  Mr. Montgomery has moved to Trafalgar Middle School and we wish him well in his new adventures in Nelson.

If you do not receive and email over the weekend, please email me to let me know.  I will also be at the front of the school on the first day with my class lists to make sure everyone knows where to go.

We looking forward to seeing you all on Tuesday!

See you all soon!

Mrs. Jenn Kooznetsoff - Principal
